Our Story begins - 1986 in Bangkok
1986 - 2003 | Soi 23
In the beginning ...
The German Beer House pub and restaurant, first opened its doors back in 1986.
Originally, we were situated in an open-air garden location in Sukhumvit Soi 23 where we were famous for our Friday evening whole roast pig, cooked on a hand turned spit at the entrance to the restaurant.
2003 -2018 | Soi 11
... the bit in the middle ...
In 2003, due to redevelopment in Soi 23, we moved to a new location on Sukhumvit Soi 11, which at that time was relatively undeveloped. We also took the opportunity to rename the restaurant as The Old German Beerhouse. From our new location in Soi 11, we continued to serve the community of locals, expats and tourists whilst further cementing our position as a local institution and the “go to” place for great quality German food.
... and then there were two!
In 2018, we temporarily closed our doors in Soi 11 for renovation but took the opportunity to open The Old German Beerhouse on 13 in Sukhumvit Soi 13, where we continue the tradition of whole spit roasted pork every Friday evening.
In August 2019, the newly renovated Old German Beerhouse on 11 once again opened its doors at the same Soi 11 site.
We open for breakfast at 8.00 am and serve throughout the day until 2.00 am the following morning. Twice daily Happy Hours are from 4.00pm till 7.00 pm at OGB on 13 (5.00 till 7.00 pm at OGB on 11 ) and then again at 10.30 pm until we close (at OGB on 11 only).
